Nilah vs Jhin 7/20/2024

Nilah Braum vs Jhin Nami (3/4/4)
Rank: Diamond 3 3LP

Summary: Made a few key mistakes this game and ultimately threw the entire laning phase. The rest of the map was hard winning, so was able to sit back and get carried for the win.

Gameplay Notes

Waves 1 and 2 went ideally, as the Masters/D1 botlane hardly punished us from last hitting. I was able to get 12/12 of the minions and had them crash wave 3.

In this scenario, how we play the next 2 waves should be painfully obvious. Since we get level 3 first, we can zone them off of the wave leading to either a free slowpush into reset or a kill if they’re bad and disrespect us.

There’s 2 things I did wrong. The first is that I fast pushed the first is that I quickly killed all of the minions under tower instead of letting it hold there for a closer wave, and the second (and much more detrimental) mistake is that I casted E to secure the final last-hit.

The problem with doing this is that we lose our all-in potential at level 3, and we aren’t able to kill when they disrespect us. This mistake is a tremendous int that throws the entire free advantage that we’ve been given. Now during the all-in, we’re just barely not able to kill Nami.

And to make matters worse, I flash in to overchase Nami which ends in a 0 for 2 double kill onto Jhin.

This game was wrought with inting from me from here on out, but for now I’ll end the review of this game there.

Takeaways

  • Understand the Nilah window of letting the enemy crash wave 3 into zone from the following wave with level 3. It’s actually fairly embarrassing that I wasn’t fully aware of this simple timing window, but here we are LOL.

Closing Thoughts

Sometimes I wonder how I’m high elo in this game…..
