Drawing & Animation
I draw animated loops sometimes. Here’s a gallery of the ones I’ve completed so far:
Untitled (1/20/2024)
If you’ve seen basically any of my profile pictures, they’re all characters from the music videos of either Itte or Hitchcock (both Yorushika songs). I wanted to recreate a similar empty/melancholic vibe, so this was my attempt. I think it turned out well.
Canals at Dusk (7/13/2023)
Easily my best work so far. For this piece paid specific attention to colors, lighting, and composition. I wanted to add more people walking around in the background, but animating walk cycles in perspective was too hard for my current self.
Swingset for Two (1/8/2023)
A melancholic piece about being alone. Despite what you might think, the incident that inspired me to make this was an 11 game loss streak in League of Legends.
Night Walk (8/6/2023)
If this looks unfinished to you, it’s because a lot of the detail that I intended to add had to be cut. It turns out that animating a slow-moving scroll in perspective is incredibly difficult to keep consistent. This led even a small addition taking hours to draw.
Filter (4/12/2023)
My depiction of seeing the world through 2 different perspectives. I had already made the animation of taking the phone photo but I forgot about it for months. After randomly finding the project file again on my PC, I decided to build a scene around it.
Sunken Laundromat (11/19/2022)
My first attempt at an animated scene. When picking the underwater setting, I didn’t expect to be spending 8 hours drawing slightly wavy lines. Animating loops like this often time becomes one big test of patience, which is something that I experienced first-hand here.
